Welcome to the On-line Showroom
John Gregory is the appointed agent for New Zealand from 1st November 2004
John Gregory is 54 years old and was born, raised and educated in Feilding, which is where the New Zealand agency of Ulverscroft UK is based.
He is married to Judy and they have two adult children Rodd and Kim who both live in Sydney.
Like all Kiwis Rugby is high on Johns list of interests, especially when the All Blacks are playing Australia. He also has a great love of the theatre and has acted in many roles, varying from a camp masseur to a Shakespearian King. He has just appeared in a production of My Fair Lady as both a drunk Cockney and posh toff at Ascot.
It was through being involved in business and the theatre in Feilding that John met Frank Dew and mutual discussions culminated in John being appointed the NZ Agent from November 1 when Frank retires..
John has been learning all aspects of Ulverscrofts business since July and has already met some librarians through visiting with Frank. He looks forward to the challenge of keeping Ulverscroft as the leading Large Print supplier in the world.
Ulverscroft Large Print was founded in 1964 by Dr. Frederick Thorpe, an Engish
publisher who recognised the importance of providing books printed in larger
size type than normal, for partially sighted and visually impaired readers.
Initial support for this innovative proposal came from noted authors such as
Agatha Christie and the company has grown to such an extent that Ulverscroft
Publications are now found in libraries and retirement homes in the United Kingdom,
Republic of Ireland, United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand
and South Africa.
The Ulverscroft sales office and showroom is situated in Feilding in the Manawatu.
We have been based here since 1981 and strategically placed to service both
the North and South Island.
Ulverscroft also supply audio, or talking books, in both cassette and compact
disc format. Ranges supplied by us through associate companies are, Magna Story
Sound, Isis and Soundings, all unabridged. We also market a range of abridged
audio from other well-known publishers. Replacement tapes and CDs are available
for all unabridged titles.
Catalogues are sent to all libraries on a quarterly cycle and orders are compiled
from these. Various discounts apply, but the most economical way of purchasing
is through a regular Standing Order.
Ulverscroft books are shipped from England. Delivery is approximately 2 months
from the placing of the order. On arrival customs clearance is done by our agent
in Auckland who then despatches them to their various destinations. We keep
